Consultation has concluded

The redevelopment of 'Caulfield Wedge', a parcel of land adjacent to Caulfield Racecourse (shown below), into a fully fenced dog park is now complete.

This type of facility is the first dog specific area in Glen Eira, and provides owners with the opportunity to train their pets in a fully-fenced and structured environment — something the community has been asking for.

We undertook community consultation regarding key elements of the design in 2017. This engagement has now closed and we have used your feedback to design this one of a kind dog park in Caulfield.

The Concept Plan on the right hand side of this page contains images and further explanation of the park that was discussed during the consultation. The Council report then details the feedback received for further information.

But, as the park is now open, get down to Pawfield Park and see for yourself!

    We asked

In 2017,Council was appointed to manage an area in Caulfield known as ‘the Wedge’. We asked if you would like to see this space converted into Glen Eira’s first exclusive, fully fenced dog park, featuring a range of areas and activities for different types and personalities of dog. A dedicated dog park has been requested by the community for several years. However, finding a suitable location presented a challenge.

The engagement period was held from October to December 2017. Informational flyers were delivered to 150 surrounding properties, on-site signage was erected and a total of 675 people visited the Have Your Say online forum. There were a total of 29 submissions. Overall, the submissions indicated support and excitement for the proposal, with the majority of people commending the initiative. A number of alternative suggestions, such as bike tracks, sports facilities and community buildings could not be achieved due to site constraints.

    We did

Council approved plans for the Caulfield Wedge Dog Park in 2017. Construction commenced in February 2019 and has now been completed. Head on down to ‘Pawfield Park’ to give your dog the time of its life!
