A healthy, connected and thriving Glen Eira

The new Glen Eira 2040 Community Vision outlines the aspirations of the Glen Eira community over the next 20 years. Now we want to prioritise our actions for the next four years to bring your vision into focus.

The extensive engagement with our community during the development of the Community Vision has provided Council with deep insights about what is important. We’ve heard that strong connection, health and wellbeing, along with many other areas are important to our community. Our experience during the COVID-19 pandemic has also shown us how important the health, resilience and our sense of community is to our way of life. As we begin our recovery from the pandemic, we want to know more about how we can continue to help the community to recover and thrive in the future.

Council is about to start planning for the next four years and is developing its Council Plan 2021-2025. The Council Plan will outline how we will support our community, how we will plan for the future and how we will deliver on the priorities for our city.

At the same time, we will be developing our new Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021–2025. Our community’s health and wellbeing has never been more important, as we commence our recovery from the global pandemic. Understanding how we can best support our community address a range of important health and wellbeing priorities will be the focus of this plan.

How can you get involved?

Over the coming months, we will be offering a range of opportunities for the community to engage with us about these important questions and delve into some of the key issues and opportunities over the next four years. There are many options available to have your say including surveys; pop up engagements; focus groups; and targeted engagement activities with key stakeholders, people with disabilities, children and young people and community groups and organisations.

You can participate by:

  • Taking the survey below
  • Responding to the quick poll
  • Having a conversation with us at a pop-up event (check out the key dates to find out where and when!)

This consultation will conclude on 20 June 2021.

  • Council is about to launch a large-scale period of engagement to help inform the Council Plan 2021-25 and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-25 and a number of plans and strategies.

Shortly we will launch a survey to seek feedback from the community on a range of priority areas, including open spaces, planning, environmental sustainability, health and wellbeing, and community engagement.

This will be followed by a series of focus groups designed for children and families, young people, elderly people, LGBTIQA+ people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability and carers, as well as a series of pop-ups in locations across the municipality.

To kick this process off, we've developed this quick poll to find out what's important to you, and to gauge your interest in participating in focus groups.
