Council is seeking financial support from the State Government through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund to integrate the two ageing existing outdoor fitness pods to provide a unified intergenerational outdoor fitness facility at Bailey Reserve. This is a recommendation from the Glen Eira Active Recreation Action Plan 2021.
The two existing outdoor fitness pods at Bailey Reserve are outdated and underutilised. We have prepared a proposed concept design for a single multi-generational community outdoor fitness facility, which will be located in the same area as the current outdoor fitness pods.
The proposed outdoor fitness facility will provide:
accessible equipment on a flat rubber surface with pathway access;
Flexibility in use with a range of elements allowing for choice in methods of use;
Equipment is simple and intuitive to use regardless of a user’s experience;
diverse equipment provides options for low physical effort;
The facility provides appropriate space and opportunities for sitting and standing and accommodates users regardless of their size.
The concept design for the proposed outdoor fitness facility is shown in the attached Image 1 – Proposed Community Outdoor Fitness Facility.
Project timing. It is important to note that if Council is successful in seeking State Government funding, the outdoor fitness facility construction will be undertaken during 2022/2023. However, if Council is unsuccessful in obtaining funding, this project will not be constructed in 2022/2023 but will be included as part of a future Council Budget.
Please provide your feedback by completing the Bailey Reserve Community Outdoor Fitness Facility survey. The survey and community consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 10July 2022.
