Thank you for joining us for this online Community Safety Forum. The purpose of this forum is to further understand the communities confidence and feelings of safety within Glen Eira. We will be doing this by examining a key findings of a survey conducted in November 2019 – Community Confidence and Feelings of Safety, with Glen Eira’s Community Voice panel (roughly 500 members representative of Glen Eira). A brief background for this project is provided below.
Background
In developing the 2017-2021 Council and Community Plan, community safety was identified by the community as a key issue. As a result, the Community Safety Plan 2018-2022 was developed to include a focus on community safety. This plan overseas two, two year Action Plans, with the 2018 - 2020 action plan due to be completed this June. The new Action Plan for 2020-2022 currently being developed.
As part of the current plan, action item 1.3.2 (on page 6), Council undertook a community research project in November 2019, into the community’s confidence and feelings of safety. This forum seeks further information on current feelings of safety within Glen Eira to build on the survey findings and inform the new Action Plan.
A summary of the Community Voice survey findings, as well as the Community Safety Plan 2018 - 2022 and the Community Safety Action Plan 2019 - 2020 are provided in the document library on the left.
