Draft Street Design Guidelines

You are invited to have your say on the summary document for the proposed Street Design Guidelines until community engagement closes Sunday 11 September 2022.

Council Officers have prepared the document to help guide Council’s street design and upgrades processes. It is intended to demonstrate how we will design our streets in the future in a way that aligns with Council’s strategic direction and state policy.

It will be a toolkit for all streetscape projects and a best-practice approach to inform future policy. The draft Street Design Guidelines were endorsed for community consultation on Tuesday 28 June 2022.



How you will be able to have your say

Online - Review our summary document and complete our online survey at the bottom of this page.

By phone/video call – Book a phone or video call with one of our urban designers to find out more about the draft design guidelines. Please call 9524 3333 or email us at cityfutures@gleneira.vic.gov.au to arrange your appointment.

In person – Come to one of our pop-up sessions to learn more. Council officers will be present to discuss the key components of the draft Street Design Guidelines.

  • Carnegie Library Foyer – Tuesday 16 August, 10am to 12pm
  • Bentleigh Urban Living Space – Thursday 18 August, 10am to 12pm
  • Elsternwick Plaza – Tuesday 23 August, 1pm to 3pm

In writing – Written submissions can be emailed to cityfutures@gleneira.vic.gov.au or addressed to the attention of City Futures and posted to PO Box 42, Caulfield South 3162.

How will community feedback be considered?

Once the consultation has closed, Council will review feedback and consider where adjustments should be made before the Street Design Guidelines material is finalised.
