Living and Ageing Well in Glen Eira

Help us shape the future of aged care services in Glen Eira

The Commonwealth Government’s current reform of aged care is introducing significant changes to the funding and delivery of aged care services, including those services currently delivered by Glen Eira City Council.

Ahead of these changes, to be introduced by the Commonwealth Government from 1 July 2023, Council is exploring its future role in responding to the priorities, needs and aspirations of older residents and our ageing community.

This time of significant change provides a real opportunity to consider how Council may best use its valuable resources to deliver outcomes to our community that respond to the identified and expressed needs and priorities of our ageing community in a sustainable, responsible and responsive way into the future.

In considering the future of aged care services, Council will be guided by its commitment to deliver ‘Well informed and transparent decisions and highly-valued services’ and that our efforts will support the further development of ‘A healthy, inclusive and resilient community’ as outlined in the Glen Eira Council Plan 2021–2025.

How to get involved

In addition to the survey, there will be additional Community Engagement activities, including:

  • Online Community Engagement Forums which will include presentations from Aged Care and Independent Living Services team.
  • Community engagement with our multicultural community and members of our culturally and linguistically diverse community through the Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre, multicultural community groups and multicultural senior citizens groups.
  • Pop-up engagement activities at various community locations.
  • Focused discussion groups with recipients of Council’s various aged care services and interested community representatives and residents.

The opportunity to provide feedback concludes on 30 June 2022.

If you would like further information or would like to speak to someone in more detail about the project, the services Council currently provides or require assistance to complete the survey, please contact our Aged Care and Independent Living team on 9524 3333.
