This online gallery showcases some our our great submissions capturing life in Glen Eira during the time of COVID-19.
We are collecting digital photos, documents, videos and audio files which document the daily local life of the Glen Eira community during COVID-19 to provide glimpses into the lived experience of individuals and families.
We hope that the material and stories we capture now will help future Glen Eira communities understand what it was like to live through this time.

Lockdown Diary - Rosie
I'm a new mum so I'm not working at the moment and can't access childcare. Keeping a lockdown diary with a quick sketch each day has helped me keep track of what day it is and take some time out each day to focus on this small task.

Mosaic message to bring a smile to passerby! - Grace
"It is a mosaic that I created to be viewed by passersby and others in the street. It is a message of hope and comfort. It has the universal symbol of the love heart, to convey the message that people care for one another. The idea came to me as I was going for a walk and I thought 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone created an Art piece to be displayed in their front garden, for people walking past?'"

Homeschooling grade 4 children - Clare
I was supervising my son (left) and a friend's son (right) while my friend worked. I was also working from home, because my office was closed during the pandemic. They are both doing school work set by their grade 4 teacher at Murrumbeena Primary School via the app Seesaw. I asked the boys what they're working on. Bertie said "nothing" and his friend said he's writing a poem about chicken nuggets. My cat Taco is sitting on his friends book.

All you need is Love - Michelle
My son Daniel has Autism/ intellectual disability/Epilepsy. Daniel is non verbal. He’s 27 years old and he has been home since March the 18th, unable to attend his daily learning centre, so I have been keeping him occupied and engaged with several art projects during this challenging Corona time. We have enjoyed our time together . Personally the COVID experience has been good for my son in terms of giving him time to function at his own pace ...no rushing, no pressure , and as a mother of twins and as our daughter is overseas, it has given me special one on one time with him , and I’ve come to appreciate him even more ; suddenly routine has changed for him... he’s not seeing his peers and teachers... the familiar has been stopped, yet he has adapted so so well, and I’m so proud of him and thankful . He’s been happy with the simple things in life . A lesson to us all .

Deserted Elsternwick carpark
This was the view from my car of a deserted carpark in Elsternwick during lockdown one. What would normally be a busy car park was now a deserted space with not a car to be seen. I had gone to get a takeaway coffee from my local cafe and bread from the bakery. I didn’t dare go to Coles because that would have meant food shortages due to people hoarding!
