The opportunity to provide feedback on this policy has now come to a close. The feedback provided through the community engagement phase has been reviewed and assessed with the draft Policy updated to reflect appropriate recommendations. The final report and updated draft Policy, including reference to feedback and the subsequent changes made to the Policy, will be presented to Council on Tuesday 22 February 2022.
All Council services, events and facilities (such as community centres, sports pavilions, parks, gardens and sports grounds) are mainly paid for by the community through the rates system.
Glen Eira City Council may, at times, receive offers of philanthropic donations as a means of adding value to what a Council can deliver to its community. Until now, there has not been a policy which clearly sets out the parameters which need to be applied in relation to the receipt of such financial contributions.
The draft Philanthropic Partnership Policy seeks to provide a structured framework to guide the context and establishment of decisions regarding incoming philanthropic donation offers. The policy is designed to ensure that Council, in considering philanthropic support, is acting in the best interests of the community, is acting ethically and is being transparent in its dealing with potential donors. The purpose of any partnership agreement is to add value to Council services, events and facilities.
