Urban Forest Strategy - Update Hub

The Urban Forest Strategy was endorsed by Council on the 29 June 2021.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and suggestions on the Glen Eira Urban Forest Strategy.

The Strategy will help direct future Council projects, and importantly, also influence and educate the whole community on the need to protect, grow and plan for trees in Glen Eira. Minutes and agenda from the 29 June Council meeting will be available here on the 2 July.

    We Asked

    Council sought community feedback on the first Glen Eira Urban Forest Strategy which was developed to provide a clear and pragmatic action plan aimed at achieving a turnaround in the current trajectory of canopy loss.

    You Said

    Community feedback indicated the desire for more trees and higher canopy targets.

    We Did

    Council reviewed and increased the canopy targets, while noting the significant challenges involved. Achieving higher canopy coverage will require a collaborative effort from the whole community including State Government, the development community and private land owners. The Urban Forest Strategy was endorsed by Council on 29 June 2021.
