Council endorses 2024-25 Budget

Our 2024–25 Budget was adopted at our June Council meeting. The Budget balances new initiatives, quality service delivery and financially sustainable.

The Budget outlines the resources we need to fund the large range of services we provide to the community. It also details the capital spending needed to improve and renew our City’s infrastructure, buildings and operational assets. Additionally, it includes our plans for investing in technology and other improvements to ensure we continue delivering high-quality, responsive and accessible services at a reasonable cost.

Council endorses community feedback

Council unanimously endorsed community feedback on our draft 2024-2025 Budget and Financial Plan at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday 13 June. You can now read the 2024-25 Budget and Financial Plan Engagement Summary Report in the Document Library section of this page.

Council is scheduled to meet again on 25 June where they will discuss the final 2024-25 Budget and Financial Plan for endorsement.

Engagement on our draft 2024–25 Budget and Financial Plan closed Friday 24 May 2024.

The draft documents are a response to the five strategic directions of our Council Plan 2021–25, aiming to deliver highly valued services and infrastructure and work collaboratively with and for the community.

We want our draft 2024–25 Budget and Financial Plan to strike the right balance between ambition for new initiatives, maintaining quality service delivery and remaining financially sustainable.

For the 2024–25 year, the Budget has been prepared in accordance with the State Government’s A Fair Go Rates System and the rate will increase by 2.75 per cent.

We have allocated $35.4 million of new funding for asset renewals, upgrades, and expansions. The funds will go towards our renewal and upgrade of our major infrastructure assets, including road reconstruction, drainage improvement and footpaths.

We’ll also be funding our Open Space Strategy initiatives of parks, playing surfaces and playground equipment.

We will continue to plant trees to increase canopy cover in our open spaces and carry out upgrades and renewals of community and sports facilities, including completing the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool.

Last year, we held our largest engagement project ever, Our Priorities, Our Future, to hear from the community about how we should ensure financial sustainability.
