Implementing the McKinnon Heritage Review
We’re inviting you to share your thoughts on a proposed planning scheme amendment as part of the McKinnon Heritage Review.
Glen Eira is home to a remarkable heritage, with buildings and places that reflect the history and growth of our city.
The McKinnon Heritage Review was adopted by Council in July 2023 and is part of our broader commitment to identifying and preserving these significant places. Over the years, our heritage studies have laid the foundation for introducing heritage protection through the Heritage Overlay. Each review helps guide planning scheme amendments that formally recognise and protect our most valued places.
The proposed amendment is now on public exhibition until Friday 12 September. View the amendment details — and make a written submission below.
Amendment C240 📍
To implement the McKinnon Heritage Review's recommendations, a planning scheme amendment is required to introduce permanent planning controls into the Glen Eira Planning Scheme. We have prepared Amendment C240 for this purpose.
The amendment proposes to add 14 individual properties and two precincts to the Heritage Overlay.
The amendment will be on public exhibition for six weeks from Tuesday 29 July – Friday 12 September 2025. View the amendment documents at the Department of Transport and Planning website.
