Join one of four Advisory Committees

Are you passionate about your community? Do you want to help us bring our strategic plans to life?

Join one of our four Advisory Committees that will guide the work that we do over the next four years to deliver our plans.

We’re looking for expressions of interest from community members to join the following new Committees.

Each Committee will focus on one theme:

  • Community safety, cohesion, health and wellbeing
  • Diverse, welcoming and accessible places
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Innovation and financial sustainability

The Committees will bring together Councilors and interested community members to support the delivery of our Council Plan 2025–2029 for the next four years.


This Committee will include up to 10 community members and will make recommendations on helping our community feel safe, healthy and well.

They’ll advise Council on:

  • Supporting our community to feel safer.
  • Delivering vibrant arts and culture programs.
  • Building connection and belonging.
  • Improving physical and mental health and wellbeing.
  • Promoting healthy living and the prevention of harm and ill-health.


This Committee will recruit up to 10 community members and will make recommendations on fostering diverse, welcoming and accessible places.

They’ll advise Council on:

  • Improving our open spaces and community facilities.
  • Providing well-connected and welcoming public spaces.
  • Supporting social interaction, activity, shopping and recreation for all residents.


This Committee will recruit up to 10 community members and will make recommendations on implementing the Climate Emergency Response Strategy 2025–2029.

They’ll advise Council on:

  • Climate action, urban forestry, parks and gardens, biodiversity, and the circular economy.
  • Council’s environmental advocacy priorities.
  • Local environmental issues and opportunities in Glen Eira.
  • Engaging the community in reducing environmental impacts.
  • Protecting residents from the effects of climate change.


This Committee will recruit up to 10 community members and two professional members and will make recommendations on trying new and smart ideas while using our money responsibly.

The Committee will advise Council on:

  • Ideas for financial sustainability, including new sources of revenue.
  • Partnership opportunities to design creative service solutions.
  • Ideas for strengthening governance and transparency.
  • Using new technology, data and artificial intelligence.
  • Ways to better match Council services with community wants and needs.
  • Your role

    Committee members will:

    • learn about our goals, priorities and challenges
    • provide advice on how to achieve our goals
    • help steer our projects, plans and services so we stay on track to meet our goals.
  • Membership

    Each Committee will have:

    • up to 10 volunteer community members
    • up to four Councillors
    • two industry professional members will be recruited for the Innovation and Financial Sustainability Advisory Committee.
  • Eligibility

    A community member must:

    • work or live in the City of Glen Eira
    • be over the age of 18.


    Our recruitment will ensure we have broad community representation from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills, knowledge and experience.

    You are welcome to express interest in more than one Committee; however, please note that if you are successful, you will only be appointed to a single Committee.

  • Meeting details

    Committees will:

    • start from late 2025 until September 2028
    • meetings will be held quarterly at Glen Eira Town Hall, with online attendance options, if required
    • meetings will be on either a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday at 6 pm for up to two hours.
