Privacy collection notice
Glen Eira City Council (Council) is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the principles of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).
Purpose of this survey
This survey is being conducted through the Elster Creek Litter Collaboration, a partnership between Glen Eira City Council, other councils and government agencies. Its purpose is to shape the Elster Creek Litter Action Plan, delivery of the Action Plan, and other actions relating to litter that Council or our partners may undertake.
Your responses will help inform Council policies and improve services.
What we collect
We may collect personal information such as:
- Your name and contact details
- Your responses to surveys or submissions
- Any other information you voluntarily provide
Why we collect it
We collect this information to:
- Obtain your submission
- Address your comments or requests
- Improve Council services
- Conduct de-identified data analysis to inform decision-making
- Contact you about the community panel if you have expressed interest in joining
How we use and share it
Your personal information may be:
- Used internally by Council staff for the purposes outlined above.
- Shared with Bayside City Council and City of Port Phillip for the purpose of the joint initiative. You can request your information not be shared, but this means they will not be able to use your response to improve their policies or services.
- Published in Council agendas or minutes (with redactions where appropriate), which are permanent public documents on the Council’s website. If you request confidentiality or Council decides the submission should remain private, it won’t be published. Your contact details will never be published.
In all other cases, your personal information will only be shared with your consent, unless we are legally required or authorised to disclose it.
Please note:
- If you are concerned that the information you consider providing the Council may be defamatory, you should seek independent legal advice.
- All Council records, including submissions, are subject to requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

You can also request a hard copy of the survey form to be posted to you. To request this, contact our Customer Service team at (03) 9524 3333 or email us at engagement@gleneira.vic.gov.au quoting "Hard copy form Elster Creek Litter Action Plan".
Required responses
Please note that you will not be able to submit the online survey if you do not complete the required responses.
