Closing the loop

This phase of Our Place, Our Plan is now finished. For a six-week period in February and March 2025 we asked the broad community, stakeholders and targeted cohorts to help inform the writing of Council's future plans.

The next opportunity for feedback into Our Place, Our Plan will be during phase four, when we ask for feedback on our draft plans. You can find the latest information and opportunities for feedback on the Our Place, Our Plan project page.

How we engaged the community

During a six-week period from 5 February to 16 March 2025, Council held community pop-ups, targeted engagement activities and promotions across Glen Eira. You can see some of our key engagement and communications activities below.

Engagement background

This phase of the Our Place, Our Plan engagement is closed. Please visit the main project page for the latest information.

You can read below to see what was involved in this phase, or click the "Closing the loop" tab to learn about the community's feedback.

Right now, we are having our biggest ever conversation with our community and we want you to get involved.

We’re calling it Our Place, Our Plan. It is about listening and hearing your views so we can shape Glen Eira together.

What you tell us will help shape our plans for the next four years to continue to support a safe community, build thriving places and businesses and protect and enhance our open space and natural environment.

It will also help us stay on the right track to progress the Community Vision that you developed for what Glen Eira could look like by 2040.

What we are asking about

We're asking for the community's ideas about what's important to them when it comes to things like:

People, safety and connections

How can we improve the community's wellbeing, sense of safety and quality of life?

Supported communities

How can our services best support everyone to reach their full potential and live healthy lives?

Connected and thriving places

How can we best invest in our activity centres, open spaces, neighbourhoods and facilities?

Climate and sustainability

How can we take action on climate change and protect and enhance our natural environment?

We also want to hear more about how Council can support our local neighbourhoods. Pin your ideas to the map below to tell us what your local area needs most.

For example, street beautification, road or footpath repairs, signage, lighting, access to programs or services, events, or more trees and plants.

Keep an eye out for one of more than 20 ideas boxes stationed at different locations around Glen Eira, in Council facilities and other community spaces. We invite you to write on a postcard to share your feedback on ways to improve your neighbourhood.

You can find an ideas box at our:

The Community Priorities Panel

We're reactivating the Community Priorities Panel, recruiting 40 new members who reflect Glen Eira's rich diversity.

Members of the Panel will have the opportunity to represent their family, neighbours, and community and think big about how we can shape Glen Eira together.

Through a series of five meetings, members will hear from Councillors and senior Council officers, learn more about our organisation, consider our challenges and opportunities, take in research and data, and provide informed recommendations to Council.

Members of the panel will receive a reimbursement for their participation in all five meetings (terms and conditions apply).

Applications closed on Tuesday 25 February.
