Submission for the second round of the Community Place Project were open for four weeks, from 1 September to 28 September.
During this time, we invited ideas for projects that would make neighbourhoods more inviting, creative, and connected.
We received 19 creative submissions, and two projects will be delivered in Carnegie and McKinnon.
In December 2025, we shared that a collaborative mural project in Bentleigh had also been selected as part of round two. Unfortunately, this project could not proceed as building approval to paint the mural could not be secured.

Like a street library for art, the gallery allows visitors to not only display their works, but also donate, swap and even take pieces home.
Constructed with the help of our local Men’s Shed, Carnegie’s new Mini Art Gallery offers a unique way for artists of all ages to share their creativity.
Celebrating Glen Eira's rich cultural diversity, the street poles of McKinnon feature colourful, new public artworks.
Delivered by a local artist and volunteers at the Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre, the artwork builds on the success of Pamela Irving’s paintings in Patterson in round one. The works feature multicultural symbols, community stories, local history and native flora and fauna.
