The Elsternwick Club Advisory Committee

Closing the loop

Members of The Elsternwick Club Advisory Committee were endorsed at the 29 April Ordinary Council Meeting.

Phase one of engagement was open for a four-week period from 5 February – 5 March 2025. We asked the community to share their vision for the site transformation and invited applications to join the Community Reference Group (now Advisory Committee).

We received 25 expressions of interest — and 10 community members were selected and appointed to the committee. Below is a high level summary of the membership profile.

What's next?

The Advisory Committee will provide advice and recommendations to Council and its officers to help guide the redevelopment of The Elsternwick Club into public open space — and will act as a conduit between the project and the community.

The Committee will meet five times in 2025 to inform the development of the landscape concept plan, and continue to provide advice throughout the project.

Expressions of interest

Join our Community Reference Group

The Community Reference Group will reflect Elsternwick’s rich diversity and stakeholder groups, playing a key role in shaping the design and use of the space. They will help ensure the future space meets the diverse needs of the community and act as ambassadors for the site’s transformation throughout the life of the project.

For more information, see below or read the group’s Draft Terms of Reference.

The Community Reference Group members will:

  • learn more about the site
  • hear the broader community’s ideas and feedback
  • provide recommendations to Council on their vision to inform the concept designs
  • provide community feedback throughout the project's construction.

The Community Reference Group will meet at least five times in 2025, and as needed from 2026 to 2027.

Members will be appointed following the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 29 April 2025, and the first meeting will take place in May 2025.

The expression of interest is open to all residents, property owners and business owners in Elsternwick. We are seeking members, of all ages who:

  • are interested in contributing to the redevelopment of The Elsternwick Club to achieve the best outcome for the community
  • can help represent a broad range of views that reflect the community's diversity
  • are willing to contribute positively to activities and meetings.

Community Reference Group members should meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • involvement in the wider community with strong community networks and connections
  • demonstrated ability to participate constructively in an advisory role
  • good knowledge and understanding of local issues relevant to the project
  • willingness to contribute positively to meetings in a fair and unbiased manner
  • ability to look beyond personal interests for the benefit of the broader community.

An overall assessment will be made to ensure the best mix of members for achieving the greatest diversity.

To apply, complete the expression of interest form below. Submissions close on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
