Council endorsed the final design at its meeting on 16 December. With the design now confirmed, we’re moving into the next stage of the project — including detailed design for the open space and exploring future options for how the building could be used.

The redevelopment of the Elsternwick Club site is more than a construction project — it’s a shared effort to create a welcoming space that the community can enjoy for generations to come.
To help bring this vision to life, we’re undertaking a multi‑year community engagement program. Below, you can explore what we’ve heard so far and how community input is shaping the project.
Phase one ran for four weeks, from 5 February to 5 March 2025. During this stage, we asked the community to share their vision for the site — from reimagining the heritage building to designing the surrounding green spaces. We also invited expressions of interest to join the project’s Advisory Committee.
We’ve appointed 10 local community representatives to the Advisory Committee through an expression‑of‑interest process. This group will play an important role in shaping how the space is designed and used.
Guided by what we heard in phase one — and with advice from the Advisory Committee — we prepared a draft landscape design.
Phase two ran for four weeks, from 26 September to 26 October 2025. Feedback from this phase helped us refine the design and make sure it reflects the needs and priorities of our community.
