We invited community feedback on the draft open space design for The Elsternwick Club from 26 September to 26 October 2025.

During this time, we received 292 pieces of feedback, made up of:

• 154 quick poll votes online and at pop-up events.
• 87 social map comments online and at pop-up events.
• 30 survey submissions.
• 16 Instagram story responses.
• Five email submissions.

Your feedback was carefully considered by the project team and the Community Advisory Committee. It helped refine the design, including:

• shade over some play areas and more variety of seating options

• play and climbing equipment for all ages

• less gravel surfaces, and more garden planting

• lighting that balances safe navigation with resident comfort

• opportunities for active elements that complement the passive use of the space.

Earlier this year, you shared your ideas for transforming The Elsternwick Club site into a future open space.

We received more than 360 ideas and suggestions to help shape the draft design. We heard you value:

• A peaceful, flexible space for relaxing — not just organised sport.
• Shade and greenery from trees and structures.
• Social gathering spaces to connect.
• Green lawns for informal play and picnics.

Guided by your ideas — and advice from the project's Advisory Committee — the draft design is now ready.
